In 1973, when I was twelve years old, my parents took my two siblings and myself to London, England for a family vacation. It was there that I saw my first two plays, in the West End. (People born after 2011 will probably know the West End as Theatreland, a dumbing down of the iconic name because, like New York’s Broadway, the only people who can afford to see plays in the West End anymore are tourists who presumably will be able to understand “Theatreland” better than “the West End.” It will always be the West End to me.)
It’s now 51 years later, as I launch this site, and I am 62 years old. I’ve seen a lot more plays in the last 51 years, though not as many as I would have liked to have seen!
My main goal with this site is commit to “paper” my memories – such as still remain – of every single play I’ve ever seen, and all the plays that I will see in the future.
I’ll also be building content gradually in other areas, such as a database of plays performed since the beginning of time, with brief synopses of their plots, a list of theatre resources, and so on.
All that is Content Yet to Come, as first I’ll be working on my theatre memories, old and newly formed.
